Cebu Republic Summer_Jam Band_Battle_2015 - The Grand Final Results
Do not break the spell, just break the heat and beat the records!
The long journey had just begun! The people and the judges have spoken! The night was peaceful but extremely exciting and thoroughly breathless. The Cebu Republic Community (CRC) had done yet, another history: from its inception, conception, eliminations and now, the Grand Finals of the Cebu Republic Summer Jam Band Battle 2015, had been cast in stone and now ready for more to come. The journey had brought the Republic literally, from the cradle to the long and winding road of success.
June 6, 2015 will remain in the annals of history in Cebu as the night of a never ending rendition and competition of song and music only the proud Cebuanos could realized. The night of splendid and outrageous performances of the competing bands was again hosted by the ever lovable and energetic Kulas-ni-Duh of Jockey /Spinner of ABS-CBN and former jock of 94.7 Energy FM Cebu.
The KOA Tree House was once again jam-packed to its capacity as the evening was crowded by the people of the Republic who watched history unfolds within their eyes. The traffic though, was damningly horrendous! But it was a successful night, and the crowd loved it! The Gorordo Avenue experienced monstrous traffic jam, really! The world was in a stand-still.
The hot and very entertaining night was further intensified by the appearance by, not one or two guests' performers, but three! The first guest band to perform was the Pantaleon Stallons band, a bunch of kids' reggae group of the Junior Kilat band. This band is based in Cebu, but also well-known in the Davao-Dumaguete-Bohol area. Not only that, they are also popular in Manila, where they won the Song of the Year Award in the NU107 Rock Awards for "Ako si M16" ( I am M16), the band's first single from the album "Party pipol ur on dub TV". So, who says Cebu kids cannot rock the world?
The next to perform guest band was the youthful We Play Unlike Yesterday (WePUY) band and was as great as the competing bands as they mesmerized and stunned the crowd with their rendition of rock music which pierced everyone's dancing prowess. WePuy band is a group of teenagers who wants to experience the magic and mysterious melodies of music. This band's members are all from the Geromo family of Cebu. And last but certainly not the least was the ever darling of the crowd, the Dropout Club band which was the event's main guest of the evening. They were really sober and definitely not drunk.
Before the event starts that evening, early birds were treated with free Henna Tattoo done by the young artists from Cebu, and the fortunate ones were delighted! And Cebu is also home to great artists, which are damned so well! Just can't beat that, either!
Once again dear people of the Republic, we present to you the lucky 9 competing bands who gazed and fought the battle with each other, in order of their appearance, last June 6 at the House:
- Three Legged Men
- Sunday Lab
- Sunday Lab
- Never Ask November
These bands were all winners on their own right as they gave their most memorable performance on that night and the mammoth crowd knew too well that it would be tough for everyone as they sang and danced with the bands and the outpouring of support for everyone was truly amazing!
One of the toughest jobs lied with the judges, as they beamed and analyzed every performance and risks their longing for their respective favorites in favor of the best. The best of the band was truly one of a kind!
As the night goes by, which was shrouded with peace, but highly intense and entertaining, one could feel the battle, the Battle of Cebu Republic Summer Jam Band 2015! And the worst came for the judges when it was time to decide who among the Lucky 9 bands will be the winner. It was the judge's worst nightmare, as all of the bands were good and great with their performances. But, really, a battle just needs a victor! Too bad they cannot all be winners.
The panel of judges, composed mainly of Cebu's respected and with unquestionable integrity and credibility were:
- Victor San Toledo, Station Manager of 90.7 Crossover and NU 107, Cebu
- Eugene Corpin, Vocalist of Aggressive Audio band
- Janduh Elento, Guitarist/ Back-up vocals of Pasakanin
- Rhui Ricacho, Bassist of Foc Fashion
- Alfredo Bout III, Assistant Sales and Marketing Manager of St. Mark Hotel
The score sheet showed a close fight between the first and second placers, and with only 2 percentage points between them at the end of the competition. In addition to this score, the Republic's Choice, where the results from the online polls were integrated with the judges' scoring, this was part of the compromise made by the Republic to include the people in judging the event.
Kudos to the judges, just like the previous elimination rounds done last month, this batch of judges did give their best to choose the best. The Cebu Republic Community really wants to appreciate their unending and undying support to advance the cause of the Republic: to give Cebu, its people and its visitors of all ages, fun and entertainment, nothing less.
