Well, the project is pushing through as Cebu City Mayor Edgar Labella presented the development during the mayor’s State of the City Address last October 16. The speech also coincides with the mayor’s 100 days in office. The project, one of Cebu’s biggest to date, is set to rise at the South Road Properties along the CSCR (Cebu South Coastal Road), Cebu City, fronting the majestic Cebu Strait. The current design of the Seaside Arena will have a seating capacity of 16,000, as big as Manila’s Mall of Asia Arena (MOA). The venue shall be used to host international conventions, sports events, major local and international concerts, and other gatherings.

The SM-Ayala partnership will invest more than P300 billion for the massive mixed-use development of the 26-hectare Seaside Arena that will also have residential condominiums, a convention center, and office towers. The project has a target completion date in 2025 and will generate more than 2 million jobs during and after the development.
