Cebu will be on the right track anytime soon as the Duterte government had approved the P1- trillion nationwide railway projects. For Cebu, the government has allocated P98-billion for the province’s 25-km rail project linking the province various towns and cities signaling the birth of the mass railway system in the region. This is undeniably one of the most ambitious projects that will catapult Cebu to have more accessibility in land travel throughout the province that will also reduce travelling time to and from various destinations.
Linking strategic locations in Cebu Island will bring closer ties between towns and cities in the province which will strengthen trade, industries, tourism and other dynamic economic activities.
The Cebu Base Port (known as Pier 4) is going to have a massive facelift as the CPA (Cebu Port Authority) is planning to construct a P400M world-class fast crafts terminal. This gargantuan project is sure to mobilize Cebu’s ports into the next level and make them brilliantly one of the finest in the world.
Consequently, expansion of the domestic port beside the Cebu International Port (CIP) is also in the offing that is expected to cost more than P600M. This project will involve installation of quay crane for domestic port operations in massive scale. The project will certainly boost the port’s capability as a world-class facility.
The construction of the 3rd bridge linking Mactan to Cebu City is still underway. This bridge is sure to ease traffic within Cebu City and Mactan due to the influx of big businesses and tourists arrivals that were seen to increase yearly at an enormous rate. This state-of-the-art bridge is a joint project of the Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC), a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Investment Corp. (MPIC) headed by tycoon Manuel V. Pangilinan (MVP) and the town of Cordova under the private-public-partnership (PPP) program.
The bridge is a surefire way of elevating Cordova town into a major destination for commerce, business, tourism and the gateway to the finest hotels, resorts, and the white sand beaches of Mactan.
The Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) is undergoing massive facelift and extensive upgrades since 2015 and is expected to be fully rehabilitated in 2018. The whole thing is being done using cutting-edge technologies which will also develop the world-class airport with resort inspired ambience, the first in the country and perhaps the world.
The project is being undertaken by GMR-Megawide consortium who won the bid for a PPP that comprised of an electronic passport gates for Filipino travellers, computerized passport reader, computerized scanning system, revitalizing retail shops, upgrade of restrooms, six contact gates, triple-level in-line baggage screening, among others.
The new terminal 2 will be covered with sheet support glulam, also the first in any airport in the country. The glulam will be supplied by Rubner Timber of Austria. MCIA is the 2nd largest and busiest airport in the country and will probably surpass NAIA (currently the leading airport in the country) in the near future.
Cebu City will soon have its own Ocean Park similar to Manila Ocean Park that will have an oceanarium, an amphitheater for sea lions and dolphin shows and a jungle trek that will soon rise in the South Road Properties (SRP). Feel the ocean’s best in marine life while exploring their world in vivid and colorful details.
As of this date, construction has done the pile driving for the structure’s foundation. This ambitious undertaking will further boost the city’s tourism industry and once again introduces Cebu to the wholesome audiences locally and internationally.
The proposed Cebu International Marina in the city’s South Reclamation Project (SRP) is an awesome sight up in the air, a very brilliant idea, indeed! The project coincides with Cebu as a perfect venue and a world-class facility for pleasure crafts, small boat cruising for adventure, diving and snorkeling and the best place to scuba dive.

Early this year, the scale model for the proposed Mandani Bay development had been shown to the public and it was an awesome sight for excited investors. A landmark joint development between Hong Kong Land and Taft Development, Mandani Bay is expected to be Cebu’s premier residential address of the elite.

The first phase of construction for the proposed solar power plant in the northern Cebu town of Daanbantayan had been completed on the second quarter of 2016. The plant sits on a 25-hectare property and is expected to generate 25-MW of electricity; it is one of Cebu’s more than half a dozen solar projects.
The project is being undertaken by Ceko Solar Farm Systems Corp. By this introduction of solar energy to the province, Cebu is expected to be a powerhouse in renewable energy enhancement for the generations to come.
This is truly good news for Cebuanos! There are several high-rise buildings soon to rise in the Cebu I.T. Park. In the year 2011-2015, there are an estimated 83 buildings in a high-rise (more than 12 floors) category that added to the city.
