Cebu Republic's Scott Kelby Worldwide Photo Walk October 2016
The annual Scott Kelby World Wide Photo Walk (WWPW) is now on its 9th year. Cebu Republic is one of the event's participants which were joined by different organizations around the globe that was realized last Oct 1 for this year.
This event commemorates the role of the photographers in a free world. Photographers and enthusiasts from all cities and nook and crannies of the world were gathered together on this date to socialize and bond as one as they walk around their respective city while taking photographs involving any subject.
The Cebu Republic community for its part was scheduled to trek along the riverside of Brgy. Napu. The group was gathered at the Guadalupe Church early 7 AM of Oct. 1. Before proceeding to the actual site, an orientation was conducted by Cebu Republic founder Neil Caipang on the do’s and don’ts during the walk and the route to be taken. Photo sessions with the group then commenced.
The World Walks for a Cause
It was an exciting trip from downtown Cebu City to Brgy. Napu riding the motorcycle (habal-habal) as the group enjoyed the ride. The group arrived on the site at exactly 8:15 AM after travelling for 15 minutes. After buying some food and drinks in a nearby store, the group proceeded trekking the riverbanks of the Brgy. Sapangdaku River.
The walk was an awesome relief for all of the participants; they photographed anything on their path worth capturing with the cameras’ lenses and documented the event by video. The kids playing and diving into the river was a joyful sight. It was after walking for more than 3 hours, the group assembled at the designated pit stop for a sumptuous lunch break: a boodle-fight style of lunch. The lunch really taste good and everybody enjoyed every minute of it.
The riverbanks offer great views of everyday lives of ordinary Filipinos in the countryside. Men, women and children got to enjoy and make use of its rich diversity. The lush greenery at the side of the river and its clear waters are also terrific subjects for photography.
Lunch break was followed by a 30-minute walk until the group meet again for the last pit stop, still taking pictures and a nice chat with each other. Trailing back to where it all started, the group decided to took higher ground instead of the riverbanks. The journey took an hour-long walk before the group arrives at Brgy. Napu, took some rest in the food store nearby and then left the area with smile and excitement in their hearts.
