ARCHCon 2015 at the South Town Center Cebu
The ARCHCon (Anime, Role-playing, Comics and Hobbies Convention) were in town!
The gamers, artists, costplayers and hobbyists were in town last Oct. 24-25 at the South Town Center, Bulacao, Talisay, Cebu where they converged to give life to the hobbies convention which was first established way back in 2004 at the Ayala Activity Center.
The 2-day event was attended by artists, costplayers, and game enthusiasts, collectors, exhibitors, TCG players and anime enthusiasts. More than a thousand people in costplayer attires attended and participated in the event.
Participating figure groups
Some of the participating exhibitors were the Gunpla Addiction Cebu (GAC), Da Geek Squad (DGS), Visayas Anime Figure Collectors (VAFC), and SilverStone Technology. These exhibitors started the event with exhibits from costplayers and hobbyists who did impressions and characterizations from anime, games and movies.
The VAFC is a Visayas-based hobby group that fancies anime figures and model kits but can certainly appreciate western animation culture and other lines, as they professed.
Founded in 2009, the GAC is comprised of plastic model enthusiasts and are certified avid fans of the Gundam franchise in Cebu. A growing species of action figures, anime, manga, comics, novels, and PC/Videogames club, DGS talks about everything concerning those species and what's happening on your favorite releases. Want to know their motto? Aim High!
Founded in 2003, SilverStone Technology is a Taiwan-based manufacturer that designs and makes computer enclosures, power supplies and its accessories. They are proud to produce world-class and the highest standard products for the international market.
Event highlights (Oct. 24-25)
The first day of the event highlighted the VS Tournament Preliminary, various performances and exhibitions from different otaku groups and gaming enthusiasts within the region, 2D animation conference, and individual costplay elimination rounds. Raffles and giveaways were distributed on this day, soliciting applause and kept the atmosphere more alive and exciting. The day 1 winners were concluded later in the evening.
The next day, mass was held early in the morning then exhibits from the artists commenced. The Gunpla modelers, together with the manga artists were given the chance to display their skills during the Gunpla Builders Cup (with a Drawing Competition).
There were also interviews conducted with gaming experts, well-known costplayers and impressionists, performers and later on the day, talks about 3D animation took placed.
Spectators, as well as the participants themselves and the rest of the crowd were amazed by the Pokemon, Monster Hunter, Super Smash Bros. and Tekken Tag Tournament finals where the challengers smashed their way with their wits and high-level gaming skills. The two-day event ended with the awarding of winners and a closing ceremony.

More ARCHCon trivia
The ARCHCon 2015 Cebu was the 12th such event that took placed in Cebu. Since its inception in 2004, Cebu remains one of the favorite sites of the convention specifically designed for hobbyists and virtual gamers nationwide. The convention aims to have an atmosphere of openness among enthusiasts and the likes where they can assemble together and have fun.
The convention was organized by AMTG Brigade, a club that caters to hobbies.
The event's proceed will be given to the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Blue Plate Mission.
