Cebu Republic joins The 8th Annual Scott Kelby Worldwide Photo Walk 2015- “People’s Choice” Winner from Cebu City
Mr. Scott Kelby announces grand prize winner
The recently concluded 8th Annual Scott Kelby Worldwide Photo Walk photo contest had been announced recently by none other than Mr. Scott Kelby himself through his website scottkelby.com and the winner is an entry from Mohammed Ayman of the Cairo, Egypt Photo Walk. The grand winner was announced by Mr. Kelby Nov. 9.
The actual winner of the People's Choice Award
On Nov. 13, however, Mr. Kelby had unintentionally identified the People's Choice Award Winner as the image from a London, UK walk, and the error was totally 100% ours, as said by Mr. Kelby through his website. The actual winner was a photo entry taken by Astro James Lugo from Cebu City, Central Visayas Philippines. Prior to this, Mr. Lugo was given the chance to compete on the People's Choice Award category by the Cebu Republic group. Please see his entry below:
The Cebu Republic panel of judges has chosen this photo of Lugo among the dozens of walker photo entries uploaded and entered into the 2015 Photo Walk photo contest done in Cebu City Oct. 3, 2015. This entry is also adjudged the Best Location photo taken in the vicinity of the Photo Walk also by the Cebu Republic Community. And this, according to Mr. Kelby, received the most number of votes for Astro Jame's image.
Mr. Kelby further added, we feel terrible for both parties: Nicholas (the guy from UK) who took a great image and was announced as the winner, and Astro who was the actual winner this year, so we're going to present prizes to both photographers (instead of just one), but the official People's Choice Award for 2015 is Astro's image.
The Photographers' guru also reiterated, As you might imagine, we're terribly upset about how this all played out, and my humble apologies to Astro James Lugo for the mix-up on our part, and to Nicholas as well. At the same time I want to offer my hearty congratulations to Astro for his wonderful capture — one that was chosen 2015 People's Choice Award by photo walkers around the world. Well done, Sir.
