The Cebu Cosplayers Club: They Finally Met (CosMeet 2015)
The Meeting of the Year! June 27, 2015, marked another historic time on Cebu’s calendar of events. It was the day the much awaited CosMeet of Cebu Cosplayers Club (CCC) was finally held! And their meeting was one in the books!
A contraction of the words, cosplay and meeting, they have coined “CosMeet” to reiterate a bonding and acquaintance among members in a single event, without the hassle of a competition. Here, they are one and the same, errr, but with only slight variation in costume! The event was highlighted by different activities crucial to the cosplayers trade and practices. The members were treated to a once in a lifetime indoor adventure confined within the power of information and camaraderie. More than a hundred have joined to experience the chance of a lifetime.
Meeting of the Minds and the Looks!
The CosMeet opened up with an exciting ReFresh Panels consisting of members who conducted different activities. Hosts Alan and Ran, talked about prop making, Eunice and Aly tackled make-up, wig styling was done by Reyu and YC while sewing was demonstrated by hosts Jury and Kev, later in the afternoon.
The Tomo Café, in Talamban Cebu, became the “battleground” for affair which was also given some importance to the much-awaited members’ self-introduction Jikoshokai led by Kert-John Tabana. There was a guessing-game on members age participated by the attendees and it was fun and exciting! The event was nostalgic for most of the old members, where familiar faces met and old pals gathered together in a single place.
The event was truly successful, with half a thousand people who turned-out for the event; it was believed to be a record-breaking feat for the CCC. The MarketPlace was also a success, opening up early in the morning (11 am) of that day. Different merchandize change hands and costumes born with other owners.
Games and amusements were only some of the attractions of the event where members interact with co-members in sportsmanlike fashion. Nobody loose, all were winners of the day. The Tomo Café, with its Japanese inspired settings, gave glitters and more life to the event and it really suits the Cosplay scenarios. The CCC people want to thanks the event’s organizers.
The “getting to know you” portion was divided into two sections. The first was the introduction in individual or pair category, the second was a group category that characterizes the evolution of a Cosplay, where it evolved from individual performance, until it grows by group. What a brilliant idea!
The good weather made the event more fun and enjoyable. There was a film-showing during the lunch break. And more games after the break. The event ended with the awarding of certificate of appreciation for the people who brought pride and honor to the Cebu Cosplay Club. Then raffles, freebies and give-away were handed to the participants who made this event meaningful and historic.
The Cebu Republic in the Background
The Cebu Republic Community (CRC) is a media partner and sponsor of this event, and they are invited to grace this phenomenal scene which added more excitement and glamour. And the Republic is truly pleased with the invite! The pact was also made between the CCC and the CRC, in which the latter will support every activity the CCC would undertake in the future.
Cebu is not only one of the safest places to live among Asean nations; it is also one where the most beautiful people can be seen every day not only in its paved streets but also within its pristine beaches and gardens. The foods are gloriously delicious too!
